A new cast member is joining 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel', and it's such a weird, wonderful choice that we know he'll blend in just fine.

John Waters, best-known as the writer and director of such films as 'Pink Flamingos' and 'Hairspray', will have a guest-starring role on 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' season 4.

Variety broke the news of Waters joining the cast. His exact role is being kept a secret for now.

Waters wrote and directed the films 'Cry-Baby' and 'Cecil B. Demented.' His movies have something of a cult following, and his last directorial effort was 2004's 'A Dirty Shame'.

He has also had small roles over the years on such TV and movie productions as 'Seed of Chucky', 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip', 'Law & Order: SVU', 'The Blacklist', and 'Feud: Bette and Joan.'
