As previously reported, a TV series on the wild tale of Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin is already underway.
The only casting so far announced for that series is 'SNL' star Kate McKinnon in the role of Baskin, with a question mark over who'll be playing Joe Exotic. While it's early days yet, odds are the interest in the role is through the roof thanks to Netflix's 'Tiger King' documentary series.
Joe Exotic himself, however, has his own take on who should play him in any future TV series - Brad Pitt or David Spade. The revelation came about in an interview with THR between Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, the producers behind 'Tiger King'.
"He doesn’t refer to David Spade as David Spade — he refers to him as Joe Dirt," Chailkin pointed out. Interestingly, as part of the deal when making the documentary, producers Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin bought the life rights to Joe Exotic's story, meaning that any movie or TV series based on his life will have to go through them.
It's standard stuff in the industry, but it could well mean that the series Kate McKinnon is working on will have to include the producers of 'Tiger King' if they want it to feature Joe Exotic.
Currently, the series is the most-watched documentary on Netflix right now and continues to fascinate just about everyone who's watched it. Talk has already begun about a second season, however the likelihood is the series will not feature Joe Exotic - who is currently serving time in jail for his murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin.
