'The Mandalorian' star Gina Carano had come under fire of late for a series of controversial social media posts.

Now Lucasfilm has issued a statment via a spokesperson reading: "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.

"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."

Carano had played the bounty hunter Cara Dune in the first two seasons of the 'Star Wars' series. Though it was expected she would reprise the role again, it looks like that's no longer the case.

Among the actress and MMA fighter's controversial posts was a Tiktok that she re-shared which compared the current political divide in America to Nazi Germany.

She wrote: "Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children.

"Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.

"How is that any different from hating someone for their political views"

In another post, Carano shared a photo of a person wearing multiple cloth masks with the caption, "Meanwhile in California…"

Both posts have been deleted since.

Elsewhere she shared a quote reading "Expecting everyone you encounter to agree with every belief or view you hold is fucking wild". Another says "Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself."

'The Mandalorian' star also posted controversial comments about mask wearing and voter fraud that have been wiped from her social media.

She was also criticised for having the preferred pronouns "beep/bop/boop" in her Twitter bio, which was read as transphobic, and which she later removed.

The hashtag #FireGinaCarano began trending as a result. A counter #weloveginacarano hashtag trend soon followed.
