Charlie Cox says MCU's 'Daredevil' should pick up years later

"I don't think it makes sense to pick up where we left off."

While nothing has been confirmed whether or not Disney and Marvel are going all-in on a new 'Daredevil' TV series (or movie?), the current star in the role of Matt Murdock has his ideas of which direction it should take.

Charlie Cox says the potential MCU 'Daredevil' continuation should be a soft reboot, picking up years after the last time we saw the masked vigilante of Hell's Kitchen.

Stemming from his surprise (but rumoured) cameo appearance in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', there has been a fresh resurgence in getting the actor back for a new solo series on Disney+. Now that all of the old Netflix Marvel series have been added to the platform this month, it certainly paves the way for more of the character in future MCU projects.

Speaking during a panel for the Middle East Film and Comic Con 2022 in Abu Dhabi this week, Cox gave his two cents on what he'd like to see of the superhero, should his story continue within the MCU.

I don't think it makes sense to pick up where we left off. I think... in keeping with a lot of things in the MCU right now, where there's this kind of alternate reality, kind of thing going on... so it’s a good moment to have this, you know, there’s been… a few years have passed, you know, and now I don’t know it’s Daredevil but maybe there’s it’s not quite… it’s reimagined.

So, when will we actually see Matt Murdock in full Daredevil garb once again? As with everything Marvel-related, we have no idea. Although we have an inkling that it may be sooner than expected - or at least we'll get official news very soon.

Late last month, Cox teased that "something else" is on the way for fans of the character.

Vincent D'Onofrio popped up at the tail end of 'Hawkeye' in December, revealing Kingpin as the mysterious antagonist of the series all along. While it appears his fate may have been sealed by Alaqua Cox's Echo during the season finale, don't count on the supervillain bowing out of the franchise just yet.

Charlie Cox and his MCU Daredevil aren't the only former Netflix/Marvel properties churning up rumours of late, either. Krysten Ritter, who played super-strong Jessica Jones for three seasons, sparked interest this week when she was spotted wearing a similar costume and hairstyle to her comic book counterpart. The actor previous said she would "just die" if she was given the opportunity to return as the private PI once again.
