Good news for Zooey Deschanel and Kevin Bacon! Seems the telly bosses in the US are so happy with their efforts that they've decided to renew both their TV shows for another season.

Zooey's New Girl is the highest rated comedy on Fox, and is a massive hit with lads and ladies alike on this side of the Atlantic. *cue chorus of the theme tune in the office* Herself and her co-stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris will all be returning for season 3. We're still referring to Max as 'yer man from Veronica Mars'.

Meanwhile Kevin Bacon is also celebrating a bit of televisual victory, what with his crime thriller The Following, getting a second season already. We're less than half way through series one, but the gang at Fox have already given the Footloose star (what a film!) a great big vote of confidence and commissioned another 15 episodes. We don't know about you but we're loving James Purefoy as the villain. And at least this time he's keeping his clothes on... so far.

Fox Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly must be rubbing his hands together in Glee (which, by the way, is still in neogtiation for a fifth series according to Deadline) because between New Girl, Raising Hope, The Mindy Project and The Following, the network's punching quite high.

"From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding. Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I'm delighted to have this thrill ride continue on Fox for another season" he said.

So are we Kevin, so are we!
