The country singer and wife Majella were NOT happy with Dermot’s first estimate for the work.
722,000 viewers tuned in to RTÉ One last night to watch architect Dermot Bannon give the Donegal home of Daniel and Majella O’Donnell a makeover on Room to Improve.
Things got off to a rocky start however when Dermot and quantity surveyor Lisa O’Brien revealed that the O’Donnell’s design tweaks had increased the estimated cost of the renovation to an eye-watering €340,000-€395,000.
Watch their reaction here:
Needless to say Twitter loved the reaction, and the O'Donnells in general:
I love @Majodonnell. No bullshit about her, and that night she had her hair cut for charity on the #LateLate, before her cancer treatment, sticks with me. So brave. There’s no vanity about her at all. #RoomToImprove

Hands down the most entertaining #roomtoimprove for a long time! Majella is so natural, and bloody hysterical!

People also got a kick out of Daniel’s in depth knowledge of toilets:
I’d love to see Daniel on Mastermind. Specialist topic: toilets. #roomtoimprove

While some want them on Room to Improve every week:
I’m actually sad that episode is over. Can we just have Daniel and @Majodonnell renovating something every week? Next week: the ensuite. #roomtoimprove

And this one made us laugh:
