True Detective may slightly be tainted by its unpopular second season, but let's not forget the magic Nic Pizzolatto created in his first outing of the show, with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the leads as Rust Cohle and Marty Hart.
Matthew was at peak McConaissance and his role as the enigmatic Rust Cohle made everyone sit up and take notice of the rom-com actor. It's also a character that McConaughey himself looks back fondly on, and in an interview on The Rich Eisen Show last night he told the host he would definitely consider returning to the role, saying;
“Yeah, I would. I miss Rust Cohle, man. I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching True Detective on Sunday nights. … I was a happy man when we made that for six months, because I was on my own island."
There are no plans for a third series of the detective drama, and McConaughey insisted that 'It would have to be the right context, the right way".
The actor also talks about how he went about learning those never-ending soliloquies and how it was actually the part of Marty he was initially offered.
