Steven Spielberg's had plenty of success with Lincoln in the past few months, but now it looks as though he's set to tackle one of France's most famous leaders, as he takes up Stanley Kubrick's mantle and tells the tale of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The Playlist says Kubrick's unfinished life's work is being adapted by Spielberg, but not for the big screen. "I've been developing Stanley Kubrick's screenplay - for a miniseries not for a motion picture - about the life of Napoleon. Kubrick wrote the script in 1961, a long time ago," Spielberg told French television network Canal+.

Kubrick had always wanted to make the picture, but the location costs became far too great and the project was eventually canned. He had done his fair share of research about the emperor though, meaning Spielberg can save a bit of time and effort.

Still no word on when it will be ready for TV, but if it's anything like Band of Brothers we can't wait to see it.
