Sean Penn isn't exactly the kind of guy you'd think would be into a sci-fi drama about the first mission to Mars, but then again, who'd have thought the showrunner for Netflix's 'House Of Cards' would be the brains behind it?
'The First' is set in 2030 and follows the first manned mission to Mars and the people involved in the journey to make it a reality. Sean Penn and Natasha McElhone topline the cast, with Penn making his first regular appearance in a television series in his career. Beau Willimon, who was responsible for the success of 'House Of Cards' and also wrote the upcoming costume drama 'Mary, Queen Of Scots', is serving as showrunner and writer here as well.
The series will first debut on Hulu in September, with the series due to be broadcast on Channel 4 shortly thereafter. In the meantime, here's the teaser.
