Admittedly, I've little time in my day to trawl through the mountains of reality TV shows and arrive at a conclusion over which ones are worthy viewing and which ones are total pants. Though it's not that I consider myself above reality TV, not at all. I was a major sucker for Big Brother back in the Jade Goody days and when X Factor was only getting going, I found myself weeping along to the finales as the soon-to-become-Simon-Cowell-puppets sang their hearts out alongside their idols. Lately though, there's just so much to choose from, it's a little overwhelming.

Two of the most popular shows right now, it seems, are The Voice UK and Britain's Got Talent. Britain's Got Talent has just been tipped to completely squash The Voice in the ratings. Why's this? Do we enjoy having access to a wider variety of entertainment? Are we fed up of people shoving the same tired songs down our throats? Can we really endure another screeching rendition of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You? Or will Britain's Got Talent win big purely because the majority of people (I'm making a wild assumption here) find Jessie J to be incredibly grating? Perhaps you won't give a toss, as you're probably wrapped up in the goings on of our own Irish version.

Reported by Digital Spy, bookmaker William Hill has come out to offer odds of 10/3 that The Voice will beat Got Talent in the ratings and odds of just 1/5 that ITV will come out on top on the impending battle on April 13th.

In other reality TV news, X Factor auditions are kicking off again in London. So if you fancy the idea of going through that entire process, queueing for hours on end with the hopes of becoming the next Leona Lewis, One Direction or... Steve Brookstein, best get down to England's capital bright and early.

Talent or no talent, I for one will be staying in bed. It's high time we were treated to a new and original (and entertaining of course) reality TV show, don't you think? And no, that Olympic diving show fronted by the child that is Tom Daley doesn't count. Something decent please.
