Given The Great British Bake Off (Tuesdays, 8pm, BBC2) has been getting in excess of 4million viewers weekly (and counting), it was inevitable that an Irish version would be put into production fairly sharpish by the masters of Irish formatting of English shows at TV3.

Anyway, if you fancy yourself as a bit of a baker, if you know your filo from your choux, your tarts from your shortbreads, and generally enjoy making things rise, they are looking for contestants for Great Irish Bake Off.

Over the 8 week series the bakers will be under the eye of presenter Anna Nolan (the obvious choice) and expert judges including top selling cookery writer and baker Biddy White Lennon. I just hope her teeth are as animated as Mary Berry's.

The experts will inspect, prod and sample the baked goodies and decide who's top of the class. Hundreds will apply but only one will be crowned Ireland's Best Amateur Baker. Will it be you?!
