Production on the highly anticipated second season of HBO show Westworld has been shut down due to wildfires in southern California.

Westworld films near Santa Clarita, California which is currently under threat from the Rye Fire. The fire has already burned across 500 acres of land, causing the evacuation of thousands of residents and the closure of roads and schools in the area. The Rye Fire is just one of several wildfires currently burning in southern California, with strong winds affecting efforts to battle them.

A statement released by HBO said "Due to nearby wildfires, ‘Westworld’ stopped production earlier today and will resume filming as soon as it’s safe to do so." The second season of the show is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2018 but no date has been fixed.

Production on a reboot of the 1970s TV series S.W.A.T has also been suspended.
