Hell hath no fury like an advocacy group scorned so it should be no surprise to hear that the US based Parents Television Council had some stern words for the big bosses at MTV in the aftermath of those VMA, err, performances that set tongues wagging and fingers typing furiously over the past 48 hours.
The PTC singled out Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga's performances in particular when labelling the ceremony "unacceptable" and blasting MTV for allowing it to hit the airwaves. "MTV continues to sexually exploit young women by promoting acts that incorporate 'twerking' in a coloured bikini," the group said in a statement released today.
"How is this image of former child star Miley Cyrus appropriate for 14-year-olds? How is it appropriate for children to watch Lady Gaga strip down to a bikini in the opening act? This content would likely not be given a forum if it were on a broadcast network, yet MTV continues to push limits because it's a cable network."
Funnily enough, Miley's daddy Billy Ray is on the PTC's Advisory Board. We can't help but wonder if that's why the group put out this tweet just a few hours later.

Either way, we're sure his achey breaky heart won't heal too quickly after this one. Perhaps he should have seen it coming when she was pole dancing on an ice cream truck during her performance of Party In The USA at the Teen Choice Awards back in 2009. The errr, 'action' kicks in at about 2.15...
We're guessing the latest tongue lashing will just add to her 'street cred'. *sigh*
