Suits announced yesterday that while the legal drama's main stars, Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams, would be leaving, the show will still go on without them, and was just renewed for an eighth season.
Original series stars Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty and Rick Hoffman are set to return as well as new series regular Dulé Hill (who plays Alex Williams) but it's emerged that they will be in the company of quite a big star, Grey's Anatomy's Katherine Heigl.
The emmy-winning actress has been cast as Pearson Specter Litt's newest partner Samantha Wheeler, who is described as being cunning enough to become the firm's "greatest ally or most powerful enemy".
Heigl said of the announcement: "Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with [writer Aaron Korsh, who] I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of.
"I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family."
It's a smart move by Heigl who has earned herself a reputation in Hollywood for being difficult to work with following her messy departure from Grey's Anatomy and for later dismissing one of her biggest movie's - Knocked Up - as 'sexist'.
In fairness though - given what we now know about Hollywood and reputations - she is probably just a strong confident lady who doesn't want to messed with. While we weren't too mad on her variety of rom-coms over the years (except 27 Dresses - obvs) we loved her in Grey's so looking forward to seeing what she does with this juicy new role.
Suits returns for the second-half of its seventh season next month on the USA Network and Netflix over on this side of the pond. The eighth season will follow in 2019.
