Yep, you read that right, just when you thought TV couldn't shock you any more, TV3's The Morning Show goes and shows you how to make a placenta smoothie *shudder*. Apparently all you need is some fruit and, y'know, that organ that keeps your baby fed in the womb.

We've heard of some pretty strange celebrity crazes, but the placenta smoothie really takes the cake. Speaking of cake, the word placenta actually comes from the old Greek for cake. We still don't see that as a reason to eat it, but each to their own.

Anyway, Sybil heads off to meet a young Irish couple called Emma and Darragh, who've taken it upon themselves to test out the smoothie. They've just had a little girl called Matilda, and after she was born Darragh brought the placenta home to be chilled in the fridge overnight. Stay with me here. Placenta Smoothie Specialist (I know), Lorraine Duffy, pops over to the gaff to make the smoothie, as you do!

Seems all you need to do is sterilise the kitchen, select a healthy piece of the placenta, and blend it all together with banana, strawberry, blueberries and mango... Well, there go any plans to have smoothies for a while eh lads?

And of course, Lorraine also shows us how to make a creative Placenta Print to keep for yourself. Just when we thought we'd seen it all on TV...

If you're going to catch it on the 3Player, be prepared. It's rather graphic.
