By far the most controversial segment in Late Late Show's recent history, Katie Hopkins' appearance on last night's show in the wake of the rise to power of Donald Trump sparked off over 1,300 complaints and a boycott of the show.

Both the show's official hashtag and her own name trended on Twitter for several hours and although official ratings haven't been announced, it's safe to say that her appearance probably buoyed the usual figures for the show.

So, what did she have to say for herself? Irish Independent columnist Collette Browne was a last-minute draftee brought on to argue against Hopkins, with Tubridy definitely at his most animated and - whisper it - angry against Hopkins in some time.

Hopkins was, of course, spouting her usual sh*te and was ably and smartly rebuffed and rebutted by Browne, who pretty much nailed her on Trump's boasts of sexually assaulting women.

In the end, it's fair to say the reaction online was more than hostile to Hopkins - just as it was in the crowd at the Late Late itself.
