Oh dear, we heard some rather worrying rumours from across the pond this morning, that would suggest Christopher Abbot, aka Charlie from Girls, had left the show.
Billed as 'the nice guy', Charlie is the rather handsome boyfriend of Allison Williams' Marnie. He's pretty much one of the only fellas who doesn't treat the Girls like complete and utter shit, and has quickly become known as the cute one, so we were really hoping we'd be told it was all just a big misunderstanding. Sadly not. Wah.
The New York Post contacted Abbot's representative, who confirmed that the rumours are true, and he's officially pulled out of the production. The newspaper claims his departure came as a result of creative differences between himself and the show's star and creator Lena Dunham. "They've just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena,” a source told the newspaper's notorious Page 6. "He didn’t like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map."
However, Abbot's representative had this to say: "[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show."
We're really not sure who to believe, and we really don't care either. All that matters is that he's gone. Guess we'll just have to live without him.
