There may only be thirteen hours left before Game of Thrones comes to an end but it almost definitely won't be the last we see of Westeros.

According to Variety, several writers have been hired by HBO to develop potential Game of Thrones spinoffs.

Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Brian Helgeland (Legend), and Carly Wray (Mad Men, The Leftovers) have all been charged with the task of developing multiple spinoffs for the hit show. It's believed that Goldman and Wray will each be working individually with George R. R. Martin in developing their ideas.

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benieoff and Dan Weiss will be attached to all four potential spinoffs, as will Martin, but neither of the three are expected to be write on the projects.

HBO have said that there is no timeline for development with the projects and they are happy to give the writers whatever time they need.

“We’ll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in,” a spokesperson said.

A Game of Thrones spinoff has been mooted for some time now but the idea of four potentially being greenlit will come as quite a surprise for most fans.

Robert's Rebellion has often been suggested by fans as the perfect setting for a prequel series so it will be interesting to see if that has made the list of potential ideas.
