Emmerdale can often be overlooked amongst the soap heavy weights of EastEnders and Coronation Street but it certainly proved itself a worthy opponent last night at the Inside Soap Awards in London, which is the only soap awards voted entirely by fans.
The soap managed to bag the top prize of Best Soap while actor Michael Parr, who plays Ross Barton, managed to take home three awards for Best Actor, Sexiest Male and Best Bad Boy.
Other awards for the soap went to Best Young Actor for Amelia Flanagan (April Windsor), Best Newcomer for Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden) and Best Partnership for Charlie Hardwick and Chris Chittell (Val and Eric Pollard).
Sigh. RIP Val.
Corrie did manage to pick up the Best Actress award which went to Alison King who plays Carla Connor, while her co-star and on-screen frenemy Kate Ford was named Best Bad Girl for playing Tracy Barlow.
Funniest male deservedly went to Joe Duttine for his role on Tim Metcalf on the cobbles while EastEnders got the award for Best Shock Twist for their Who Killed Lucy Beale storyline, along with Best Show-Stopper for the live episode.
