David Attenborough's love and respect for animals is just one of the many things that makes his shows so special - so it's no surprise that he's got a problem with people who hurt them.

In an interview with The Sun, Attenborough singled out none other than Bear Grylls over a scene from last season's Bear Grylls' Celebrity Island, which saw Coronation St. actor Ryan Thomas and Olympian Iwan Thomas attracted a number of complaints wrestle and later kill a crocodile with a knife.

"We’ve never killed an animal. Bear Grylls will have to answer for himself. But I wouldn’t willingly kill an animal just to get a shot," said Attenborough. The scene in question received a number of complaints, as well as condemnation from PETA UK.

Channel 4, meanwhile, defended the scenes at the time - saying that "celebrities were trained in the humane capture and dispatch of live animals as part of their survival training and the adult caiman was killed humanely."
