Production of the second season of Big Little Lies is getting underway soon and while no casting announcement could ever top the addition of Meryl Streep to the series, there are other interesting actors joining the show in its second outing.
Former Big Love, The Alienist and Vinyl actor Douglas Smith has been cast in a 'significant season 2 role' according to Deadline. He will play Corey who will work alongside Shailene Woodley’s character Jane and is described as an "off-beat surfer, aspiring marine biologist".
Pretty much all of the cast of season one are returning including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Zoë Kravitz, Iain Armitage and James Tupper. Alexander Skarsgard’s Perry — who died in the Season 1 finale — will be back in some form or another, while Meryl Streep is joining the series as his mother.
Season two will explore the "malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode … the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom".
Big Little Lies season two is expected to be on our screens in early 2019.
