Barry Chuckle, whose real name was Barry Elliott and was best known as one-half of the entertainer duo The Chuckle Brothers, has died at the age of 73.
Together with his brother Paul, the duo starred in the children's television programme 'ChuckleVision' from 1987 until 2009. They began life as a variety comedy act when they appeared on an ITV talent search show in the late '60s.
In a statement released to media, Paul said that he has "not just lost my brother, I've lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend." Manager Phil Dale added his condolences, stating "that Barry passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Ann and all his family."
"The family would like to express their thanks to the many people who have been fans of the Chuckle Brothers and they know that they will share in part the great, great loss they feel."
