Look, we love a good Irish drama as much as the next person, and with all the hype surrounding Amber, we had psyched ourselves up for something that would blow the heads off us. Instead, what we were all left with, were heads that were just wrecked beyond belief.
Four hours, nay, FOUR DAYS we spent deciphering clues, reading into sub-plots that we thought were important, using all our bloody Sherlock abilities to work out what the hell happened poor Amber. And what did we get for our effort? Nothing. Nada. Diddly feckin' squat.
Last night's episode was fairly weird as it was, as we saw her father go on an internet pornography rampage thinking that that was the key to finding Amber. His downward spiral was difficult to watch, but we did, as we all thought - there's a point to this, right? Nope, no point. The episode ended as the previous ones have, by going back to 'Day 1' - the day Amber went missing. Each episode gave us a little bit more information about what happened, and we waited with baited breath to see what we would find out at the end of this final one. We were kept waiting though, as all we saw was Amber strolling off down the road - then the credits rolled, AND... we all threw our shoes at the telly.
We get it, OKAY. They are trying to tell us that often in life, we just don't find out what happens. BUT, this isn't real life, this is TV drama. There are enough open ended current affairs stories on the actual news, without getting it from the fictional stuff. All this aside though, we are aware - it IS only a TV show, and with the happy go lucky Mamma Mia on afterwards on RTE, we were soon over it. The internet however, was not. And as is always the way with social media, it got pretty entertaining. Here are some of the best reactions below;
Met Eireann have issued an #Amber alert across Ireland which is caused by a "vitriolic overreaction to the end of a TV show". STAY INSIDE.
