There are revivals and reboots everywhere these days and while some seem very unnecessary this one we wholly support as we would love to see how savvy reporter Murphy Brown would handle this new era of journalism with its social media, fake news and a very different political climate.
CBS has given the go ahead for a 13-episode series with star Candice Bergen reprising her role while the sitcom's creator Diane English is also returning. The news comes on the 30th anniversary of the original series with Murphy Brown airing on CBS for 10 seasons, from 1988-98.
The show was known for its political satire and for reflecting current events as well as of course Murphy's dry one-liners. The sitcom was even famously referenced by Vice President Dan Quayle in a speech during the 1992 presidential campaign.
During its original run, Murphy Brown won 18 Emmys as well as three Golden Globes, two DGA Awards and two WGA Awards.
There are talks underway for other original cast members to return and we can only HOPE that they manage to rope in painter Eldin (Robert Pastorelli). Surely that house needs a new lick of paint by now?
