Melissa Joan Hart, who played the lead in the 90s-00s comedy series, sat down with Nate Richert to watch the Netflix show. Richert played her love interest, Harvey, in the TV series.
Meanwhile, the original Aunt Hilda and Zelda, namely Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, sat together to watch the series.
The Netflix show stars Kiernan Shipka ('Mad Men') as Sabrina Spellman. Ross Lynch plays Harvey, Lucy Davis ('The Office', 'Wonder Woman') plays Hilda and Miranda Otto ('Lord of the Rings') plays Zelda.
Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, Jaz Sinclair, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph and Richard Coyle also feature in the cast.
The series has been described as a darker take than the first TV adaptation based on the comic book series.
Richert rightly comments: "So this is not going to be funny."
At one point, Richert even playfully frightens Hart. They still have that adorable chemistry.
"It's terrifying, this show!" Rhea comments. Broderick agrees: "It's really scary. I don't think I can watch it alone."
As the characters remove their clothes and begin making out with one another, Rhea proclaims: " This is not our Sabrina!"
There was praise for the new take on the character as well. Rhea describes her as "very political," and "quite empowered."
"It's totally intriguing," adds Broderick. " It's just very dark, very different."
They also prefer the new Salem as they described their version of the talking cat as "an alcoholic rabbit wearing a hairpiece."
In our TV editor Fiona Flynn's review of 'Chilling Adventures', she described the show as "visually impressive" with "great performances."
