***CONTAINS SPOILERS*** Archie (KJ Apa) embraces his identity as the new ‘Mad Dog’ in juvie. The position requires fighting with other prisoners to entertain the warden and officers. Resistant at first, Archie agrees when he is informed that Joaquin (Rob Raco) will be used in his stead if he refuses. Initially happy with the perks, Archie continues his rebellious ways, throwing away the goods and planning his prison escape by the end of the episode.
Veronica (Camila Mendes) reveals that the speakeasy beneath Pop’s is ready and organises its grand opening with the help of some friends. The new space is sure to evoke some drama, which has already been indicated by threats from Penny (Brit Morgan) and her gang of Ghoulies, as well as Sheriff Minetta (Henderson Wade).
The Dungeons and Dragons Gryphons and Gargoyles game features again while the Gargoyle King makes another brief appearance. In relation to the former, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) plays the game with Ethel (Betty [Lili Reinhart] is deemed ‘unworthy’) which almost has fatal consequences. Shannon Purser, it has to be said, is doing a really good job at portraying her character’s nice-innocent-girl-turned-creepy transformation.
Camila Mendes in 'Riverdale'While it’s been indicated but never confirmed, there does indeed seem to be a connection between the Farm and the Gargoyle King. Betty confronts the Farm about this and as the episode draws to a close, Alice (Mädchen Amick) and FP (Skeet Ulrich) - who are now sleeping together which is super weird, especially given that the scene cuts straight from them in bed together to Jughead and Betty in bed - indicate that they played the game too. JP destroys what the four believe is the only handbook to Gryphons and Gargoyles – only for Jughead to discover it’s been copied and distributed throughout Riverdale High the next day!

The cliffhanger provides the highlight of yet another lacklustre chapter in the latest season of ‘Riverdale’. It’s just not as good as it used to be, amirite? Fortunately, the future is set to include a flashback episode pointing to the Riverdale parents’ high school experience. That one’s sure to be a blast.
