Despite it receiving a critical pummeling not unlike his previous effort, Suicide Squad, David Ayer's Bright is not only being hailed as a success by Netflix, it's now officially moving forward with a sequel.

The news was confirmed today, with the understanding that David Ayer, Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are all set to return in their respective roles. The film - which had a production budget of $90 million, making it Netflix's most expensive original film to date - currently has a 28% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite this however, Bright was watched by 11 million people in the space of three days across the globe - probably out of morbid curiosity than anything else. Here's our review of Bright, at any rate. THR, meanwhile, is reporting that Max Landis will not return as screenwriter with David Ayer taking over scripting duties from him.

No release date or official title has been announced.
