You can guess how 'Dumplin', the new Netflix comedy with Jennifer Aniston and 'Patti Cake$' breakout Danielle MacDonald, is going to go but when it's this sweet, who cares?
Directed by Anne Fletcher - who did guilty pleasures such as '27 Dresses', 'Step Up' and 'The Proposal' - it stars Aniston as a former beauty pageant queen who's now a judge in the local Miss Texas Blue Bonnet, which is presumably some kind of Rose Of Tralee thing.
Her daughter, after comments about her weight, decides to try out for the competition with the help of a couple of drag queens, a few outsiders, and a lot of confidence. Again, it's all there in the trailer, but who cares? Does all of Netflix's output have to be hard-edged revenge thrillers?
'Dumplin' arrives on Netflix from December 7th.
