Hopes are high for the next season of Netflix series The Crown which will follow Queen Elizabeth in the years following 1963, according to reports.
While the curtains have closed on Claire Foy, Vanessa Kirby, and Matt Smith’s time on the show, it’s fitting that the characters they play are replaced by older actors, and they’ve lined up a fantastic cast.
As previously announced, Broadchurch and Peep Show star Olivia Colman will play Queen Elizabeth while Helena Bonham Carter, who had been rumoured to be an addition to the cast back in January, has officially been confirmed as Princess Margaret.
Infinity War star Paul Bettany was originally in talks to play Prince Philip but now it has been confirmed that Outlander and Game of Thrones star Tobias Menzies will take on the role.
It has also been announced that Jason Watkins (Trollied, Taboo, W1A) will play Prime Minister Harold Wilson.
