'The Vision and Scarlet Witch' will be one of the first series available on Disney's new streaming website.
2019 is here, people - and so is Netflix's biggest competition.
Well, not here yet, but Disney+ is expected to arrive later this year. Rumoured to be offering up a selection of previous Disney movies and TV shows, as well as many planned exclusive TV series and movies, we'll soon be forking out for our Disney fix.
Now, it seems that those Marvel TV series' are finally gathering momentum. The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports that 'Captain Marvel' writer Jac Schaeffer is on board to pen the upcoming 'The Vision and Scarlet Witch' TV series. Schaeffer is set to be writing the pilot show, as well as executive producing.
In addition to working on 'Captain Marvel,' Schaeffer also wrote the screenplay for Scarlett Johansson's superhero project 'Black Widow.' The movie is due to begin shooting later this year.
Unfortunately that's all the info we have on 'The Vision and Scarlet Witch' series at the moment. Many details are likely being kept behind closed doors until the majority of fans see the upcoming 'Avengers: Endgame' so as to avoid any potential plot spoilers.
As well as 'The Vision and Scarlet Witch,' Disney+ is also set to have a 'Falcon and Winter Soldier' limited TV series in the works. And if that wasn't enough, Tom Hiddleston's 'Loki' is also set to be getting his own series on Disney+; but in what capacity still remains to be seen.
However, Disney is yet to give an official date of when Disney+ will be arriving, so we're still desperately holding out for Fox-related TV series and movies to be included in its launch line-up. Now that Fox Studios has become a part of the Disney umbrella, we expect some surprises to be announced about Disney+ in the coming months. How about a re-release of the 90's 'X-Men' animated cartoon? Or a new 'Planet of the Apes' TV series? A geek can dream.
