The first season in the anthology series will tell the true story of one of Silicon Valley’s "most successful and most destructive unicorns", Uber.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick will take centre stage as the highs and lows of his career will be shown on the small screen in 'Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber' on Showtime.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the man in question, the series will tackle the multiple controversies that Kalanick unleashed while setting up his ride-sharing app. The CEO was removed from the company during a boardroom coup in 2017 following multiple controversies, including sexual assault allegations.

Gordon-Levitt will be joined in the cast by Uma Thurman, who will play Huffington Post co-founder, Arianna Huffington; while Kyle Chandler stars as a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, Bill Gurley. The show is executive produced by 'Billions' creators, Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who also serve as writers and showrunners.

'Super Pumped' will be an anthology series, with the life of the Uber CEO being the first real-life story to be dramatised for season one, based on 'New York Times' journalist Mike Isaac's book. Should this first entry be a success, Showtime has plans to focus on a different person or story which shook the business world in future seasons.

It's humbling to see Gordon-Levitt back on our screens, given that one of his most recent TV offerings was cancelled after just one season. Apple TV+'s 'Mr. Corman', which was written, directed by and starred the 40-year-old creator failed to make enough of an impression with audiences to warrant a second season.

While an Irish and UK release date is yet to be confirmed for 'Super Pumped', the series will hopefully arrive later in 2022 via Sky TV and NOW. In the past, the broadcaster has carried a number of other Showtime TV series including 'Dexter' (and its revival series 'New Blood'), 'Billions', 'Your Honor' and recent hit 'Yellowjackets', so we should see this new series be added to their growing collection.

Here's the teaser trailer for 'Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber'.

'Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber' premieres on Sunday, February 27 on Showtime in the US.
