There's been a lot of back and forth between the pair over the years, and now SJP has finally set the record straight on the revival series drama.

The world and her mother know that former 'Sex and the City' stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall get on about as well as two Pomeranians who encounter each other on the street - they're not on the friendliest of terms.

And so, when it was announced last year that sequel series 'And Just Like That...' was on the cards, all heads were turned to the two stars to see if things could be patched up, repaired and mended in time for the show. Unfortunately, as we saw, Samantha Jones, was glaringly absent (but appeared via text messages).

Finally setting the record straight on The Hollywood Reporter's Award Chatter podcast, Sarah Jessica Parker explained why Kim Cattrall was not asked to be part of the show.

The 57-year-old said: "We did not ask her to be part of this because she made it clear that that wasn't something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn't occur to us. That's not 'slamming' her, it's just learning.

"You've got to listen to somebody, and if they're publicly talking about something and it doesn't suggest it's some place they want to be, or a person they want to play, or an environment in which they want to be, you get to an age where you're like, 'Well, we hear that'."

Alluding to Cattrall not being keen for a third 'Sex and the City' film, she said there was a level of "comfort" that wasn't reached between her former colleague and Warner Bros: "The studio, when we were going to do the third movie, there were things that she requested that they were not able to do.

"They didn't feel comfortable meeting where she wanted to meet. And so we didn't do the movie because we didn't want to do it without Kim, and the studio wasn't going to do it, so it fell apart."

She continued on the topic of 'And Just Like That...', saying how she and the rest of the cast (Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis) felt "comfortable" going ahead without Cattrall for the series, alongside Michael Patrick King on board as director and executive producer: "We felt comfortable moving on without her and without that part because we knew what Michael wanted to do. And we thought he handled it beautifully — that she was there and she was present — and that was kind of nice for all of us and, I think, the audience."

Just last month, Cattrall took part in an interview with Variety where she laid out her opinion on everything to do with the revival series on HBO Max. Following the second 'SATC' film in 2010, the 65-year-old said: "Everything in me went, 'I’m done'. [...] I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media."

Parker concluded the topic of Cattrall by adding what they have between them is not a "catfight" or even an "argument". She elaborated: "It's so painful for people to keep talking about this 'catfight' — a fight, a fight, a fight.

"I've never uttered fighting words in my life about anybody that I've worked with ever. There has been no public dispute or spat or conversations or allegations made by me or anybody on my behalf. I wouldn't do it. That is not the way I would have it.

"So I just wish that they would stop calling this a 'catfight' or an 'argument,' because it doesn't reflect [reality].

"There has been one person talking. And I'm not going to tell her not to, or anybody, so that's been kind of painful for me also."
