Pete Davidson says he might not stay on 'SNL' much longer

The comedian took part in a wide-ranging interview that covered relationships, his time on 'SNL', and depression

It seems that 'Saturday Night Live' might not be as fun to work on as it appears to be, according to one of its current cast members.

Pete Davidson, who has been on the sketch show since 2014, had revealed in a recent interview that his days on the show may be numbered. The reason is that Pete feels like he's just "fodder" on the show now, and is not taken seriously by his colleagues or the audience.

He told American radio and TV presenter Charlamagne Tha God: "If I'm just fodder now, though, maybe I shouldn't be there. I literally was just like, ‘Picture what it’s like to be made fun of and then cut to immediately.'

"And then try to gain the audience's [respect], like, get them on your side. Without being like, 'look at this f*cking idiot.' You try to do that. They think I’m f*cking dumb. I’m literally painted out to be this big dumb idiot."

He went on to say that creator of the show, Lorne Michaels, is the best part of the show for him. But as far as everyone else on 'Saturday Night Live': "It's like a cutthroat f*cking show. Everyone is trying to get their sh*t on. Everyone wants to be the next thing. So it's not like a loving, caring [environment]. You're not going to get coddled over there. They don't give a f*ck, at the end of the day.

"I personally think I should be done with that show because they make fun of me on it."

When asked about how often he battled with depression, Pete revealed it was "all of the time". He told the radio presenter: "I have to constantly bring myself out of it. I wake up depressed, but I'm like 'okay, I know my steps - now I have to go outside and be in the sun for a little bit, or go for a walk, and start the day this way'. It's all just programming yourself to trick your brain."

In the wide-ranging interview, Pete said that he considered suicide at times.

When it comes to relationships, he said that he's quite emotional when he is in one - public perception of him is very wrong, and he's not the bad guy that the media has portrayed him to be. His most recent relationship with Kate Beckingsale ended recently, while before that he was engaged to Ariana Grande.

Growing up with one sister and a single mother, he said: "I cry a lot, I get into deep conversations. I care about your sh*t". I like to meet your family. I'm a lot for certain people - it was just how I was raised. [...] I didn't have a man around the house, I would be like 'when am I going to find my princess charming?'."

He also said that Adam Sandler is one of his favourite comics, and the actor should have won an Oscar for 'Uncut Gems'.
