The BAFTA TV Awards nominations have been announced for the summer ceremony, with ‘The Crown’, 'I May Destroy You', ‘Normal People’, and ‘Small Axe’ leading the charge. 

‘Normal People’ has received seven nominations in the BAFTA TV Awards. Both leading stars from the series, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, have been nominated with Mescal for Leading Actor and Edgar-Jones for Leading Actress. 

This is the third time that both stars from the Irish drama series based on Sally Rooney’s novel have been nominated for the same awards show - the Critics’ Choice Awards and the AACTA International Awards. Mescal previously received an Emmy nomination last year, with Edgar-Jones getting a Golden Globe nod this year.

Elsewhere, Steve McQueen's BBC series 'Small Axe' dominated nominations, with a total of 15. 'The Crown' season four was also a major force, with 10 nominations in total. Michaela Coel's 'I May Destroy You' also got the recognition it deserved, with eight nods.
