A decade after his first meeting with Joe Exotic, Louis Theroux has been pictured with the Tiger King's biggest rival.
Louis Theroux has been pictured with Carole Baskin, who has been interviewed as part of his latest documentary. The Big Cat Rescue owner will feature in the journalist's upcoming release, entitled 'Louis Theroux: Shooting Joe Exotic'.
The first time many of us would have heard of Joe Exotic would have been in Theroux's 2011 release 'America's Most Dangerous Pets'. Last year, the former zoo owner took centre stage in his own Netflix docuseries 'Tiger King', which ended in him being sentenced to 22 years in federal prison.
Exotic and Baskin have been known as, to put it mildly, mortal enemies. Part of the former's prison sentence is related to him allegedly hiring a hit man to kill his competitor.
Theroux's latest documentary will act as a sequel to his first encounter with Exotic, and will feature previously-unseen footage from the first 2011 interaction. The journalist said that he went back over the 10-year-old footage previously shot, and found it "extraordinary" the amount of unused footage he found.
He teased: "Since then the story just got stranger and bigger, and in going back at the end of last year I uncovered a real-life drama that took me in directions I never could have expected."
Mindhouse Productions shared the first picture of Louis Theroux and Carole Baskin. The production company which Theroux is a founding member of has created the filmmaker's most recent works such as his 'Life on the Edge' series.
The 90-minute special 'Louis Theroux: Shooting Joe Exotic' will air on BBC Two later this year.
