Airing on New Year's Day, fans called the show "painful, awkward and cringeworthy". Some had expected the show to be a new episode of 'The Inbetweeners'. Instead, 'Fwends Reunited' consisted of an uncomfortable chat show format.
Hosted by Jimmy Carr, stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley were all present. Above all, fans thought they looked like they wanted to be anywhere else.
Here are some of the scathing Twitter reviews:
Watching the Inbetweeners reunion and dividing my time between pissing myself laughing and wanting to vom at the amount of cringe, awkward interviews

The #FwendsReunited look like they’d rather be anywhere else than in a studio with Jimmy Carr at a 10 year anniversary of The Inbetweeners. No irony there at all. Oh no ...

The Inbetweeners reunion special is even more painful than I could have ever imagined. Peter Andre is there. Everything is awkward. Oh god

James Buckley, who plays Jay in the series, got a lot of criticism in particular.
This show feels awkward and so fucking forced !! James buckley ligit looks like he could go to sleep , and joe thomas looks as though hes daydreaming about being somewhere fucking better ffs #inbetweeners

The actor has since taken to Twitter to express his disappointment to how fans reacted to the show. He wrote:
"Feeling pretty hated right now. Im sorry to anyone who feels let down with last nights show. Im especially upset as it really is the fans that made the inbetweeners a success, it certainly wasnt me. I might do an explanation video on my YT, or might just leave it & move on #sorry"
