Joined by singer Mavis Staples, Wicklow man Hozier made us all proud by referencing Irish activists in his new song 'Nina Cried Power'.
Hozier is back with a bang, there's no doubt about that. He was joined on 'Ellen' by the legendary gospel singer, to show off his new song for the first time on live TV - and the pair of them gave us all chills.
'Nina Cried Power' will be the first track from Hozier's upcoming EP of the same name. The song holds a very special meaning to him and will no doubt to a lot of Irish people. He says on his website, "this song was intended as a thank you note to the spirit and legacy of protest; to the artists who imbued their work with the vigour of dissent, and a reflection on the importance of that tradition in the context of the rights, and lives, we enjoy today.
"We are witness to a new Ireland waking to the consciousness of itself; a kinder, more inclusive nation. This video is an attempt to acknowledge just a handful of those who have fought for this new Ireland, and whose work continues to inspire me".
Hozier's EP 'Nina Cried Power' will release on November 23rd, and features four new tracks. The singer will also playing his sold-out gigs this coming December in Dublin, Belfast, and Killarney.
