It's still a long way off hitting screens, but 'The Batman' is already gearing up a spinoff series on HBO Max, with a new showrunner lined up.
Previously, Terence Winter - who was one of the executive producers on 'The Sopranos', and wrote 'The Wolf of Wall Street' - was set to act as showrunner on the series when it was initially announced.
Variety is now reporting that Winter has left the show, and is being replaced by a pretty interesting choice - Joe Barton. BBC's 'Giri/Haji' was created and written by Barton, and was one of the best shows of 2019 in our opinion. Barton also wrote 'The Ritual', an excellent indie horror starring Rafe Spall and Robert-James Collier, as well as the BBC Three miniseries 'Our World War'.
Details on the series are light, but a working title for the series is currently 'Gotham PD', as to differentiate from the Fox series, 'Gotham', that starred Ben McKenzie and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
No air date has been set for the series so far.
