Even though some might argue that the last season of 'Game of Thrones' soured it for everyone, HBO are still forging ahead with their potential prequel pilots - and another is now in the mix.
Per Deadline, George RR Martin and 'Colony' creator Ryan Condal are close to signing a deal which will see them take on 'Fire & Blood', Martin's latest novel set in Westeros. The book, which is written like a historical account, charts the rise and fall of House Targaryen, and is set 300 years prior to the events of 'Game of Thrones'.
Details are sketchy at the minute, but it's understood that this idea was adapted in part from one of the five prequel concepts that were pitched in the final days of 'Game of Thrones'. Bryan Cogman, who was a producer / director on the show, had taken charge of this idea - but his version of it was rejected, and then give a second chance in this form.
The other pilot, which still doesn't have an official title, was filmed in Belfast this summer and is now currently in post-production before it'll be screened for HBO executives to decide its fate. Given how 'Game of Thrones' has a total of 32 Emmy nominations this year - the highest for a single TV show - it shouldn't come as a surprise if both of these pilots get ordered to series.
