The international DJ is a fan of the series and is expected to film his scenes later this year.
Fatboy Slim has landed a cameo role in the final season of 'Derry Girls' and we can already imagine the reactions that the five teenage characters have if they manage to see him in the flesh.
The 58-year-old DJ, whose real name is Norman Cook, is a "big fan" of the show which is based in Northern Ireland in the '90s during The Troubles, according to Sunday Life/The Belfast Telegraph.
The performer released two studio albums in the '90s: 'Better Living Through Chemistry' in 1996 and his most famous work 'You've Come a Long Way, Baby', in 1998. His appearance on the show shouldn't cause too much confusion, given how his album releases line up with the decade the series is based in. Although how close the camera will be on the DJ, given that he's aged over 20 years since these releases, remains to be seen.
A source told the publication: "Norman has agreed to do some filming for 'Derry Girls', he’s a big fan of the show. The show is based in the 90s so it will hark back to when he broke through as Fatboy Slim with big hits like 'Praise You'.
"As his show has been rescheduled we are just working out when we will now shoot his scenes. It will most likely be when he is back here in a few months as the show is due to continue filming into December.
"Norman’s also a funny guy and great craic, so we are expecting him to really get into it and have a lot of fun. You can only imagine what the on-screen characters like Erin, Michelle and Clare will make of seeing Fatboy Slim in the flesh, it will be hilarious."
Fatboy Slim was due to play in Belfast this coming weekend, but the dates were rescheduled for December 17. The English DJ also has an Irish date at the 3Arena in Dublin on March 16, 2022.
It was announced in September that season three of 'Derry Girls' would be the final time we get to see the oddball characters. The series arrives on Channel 4 in 2022.
