The Evan Rachel Wood HBO documentary 'Phoenix Rising' is headed to Sky Documentaries and streaming service NOW this March. Check out the trailer for the two-part story below.
Early last year, the 'Westworld' and 'True Blood' actor opened up about her sexual abusive past. She named Brian Warner, more commonly known as Marilyn Manson, as her abuser.
In the Instagram post where she named her abuser, Wood wrote: "I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail.
"I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent."
'Phoenix Rising' is directed by filmmaker Amy Berg. The documentary gets its title from The Phoenix Act, which Wood spearheaded into legislation; the act was formed to give victims more time to confront their abusers, giving them five years instead of three to report domestic abuse in California.
However, as can be heard during the trailer, it can take up to seven or ten years for domestic abuse victims to come forward because of the trauma and fear they've experienced.
The Evan Rachel Wood documentary will see the actor speak about her abuse while also chronicling her journey towards becoming an activist, helping women by bringing their cases to court. Due to the statute of limitations regarding her own personal abuse, she was unable to file charges against Manson.

'Phoenix Rising' will launch on Sky Documentaries on March 17 and 18. Both episodes will have a boxset release on March 17 on NOW.
