The FX limited series 'The Patient' has added four more stars to the cast.

Domhnall Gleeson will be holding Steve Carell prisoner in his next TV series, entitled 'The Prisoner'.

The 10-episode limited run for FX will see Gleeson star as a serial killer who holds a psychotherapist named Alexander Strauss (played by Carell) prisoner. It might sound creepy and dark, and it is, but this man has an unusual request of his captive - to help him overcome his need to kill.

According to the series synopsis, viewers will witness: "Unwinding the mind of this man while also dealing with the waves of his own repressed troubles creates a journey for Alexander that’s perhaps as treacherous as his captivity."

Also added to the cast alongside Gleeson are Linda Emond ('The Big Sick', 'Succession'), Laura Niemi ('This Is Us'), and Andrew Leeds ('Veep'). 'The Patient' has Joel Fields ('The Americans', 'Ugly Betty') and Joe Weisberg ('The Americans') on board as writer and executive producers, with Carell executive producing also.

Later this year, Gleeson will appear as a main character in HBO's new limited series 'The White House Plumbers'. The five-part series will be a political dramedy about the goings-on within the White House during President Nixon's reign. The star-studded cast includes Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Lena Headey and Kiernan Shipka.

Since his exit from 'The US Office' in 2011, Steve Carell has banked on more dramatic roles in his TV and movie choices. He joined the cast of 'The Morning Show' on Apple TV+ alongside Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, as well as high-profile roles in 'Foxcatcher' and 'The Big Short'. Of course, he's kept one foot in comedy, starring in Netflix's 'Space Force' (which will be back for season two), and also reprising his role as Brick in 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues'.
