Ding ding! It's Caitríona Balfe vs. Jimmy Kimmel.
It's that time of the year once again when Ireland gets inundated with visitors from overseas, in the hopes that the Emerald Isle is the place to be for St. Patrick's Day. While the day is loved by some and loathed by others (with a double Bank Holiday this year, everyone will suck it up no doubt), there is one tiny thing about the day that really grinds our gears: the Americans and their use of "St. Patty's Day".
Thankfully, we've got Caitríona Balfe on the case, hoping to fix all of the "St. Patty's Day" debacle once and for all.
The 'Belfast' and 'Outlander' actor appeared on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' last night to bat away all of the March 17 myths that the Americans have heard over the years - including that we eat corned beef and cabbage. Kimmel seemed determined to get the Irish actor on his corned beef side before she said: "I don't even know what that is!"
The heartwarming and quite hilarious interview also included Balfe speaking about attending the SAG Awards with her young 'Belfast' co-star Jude Hill and his getting excited about seeing the actors who played some of his favourite superheroes on screen. She also tells of a mortifying moment only an Irish mother could create when she met Bono in a lift.
Following on from a story about matching school to go down to the local pub, Caitríona Balfe then schooled Kimmel on how nobody says "St. Patty's Day" in Ireland. She informed him: "Sometimes people call it 'St. Patty's Day', and I'd like to just say - it's not. It's 'Paddy's' with two 'D's."
Finally, Balfe made a comment on how "crazy good" the fans of her show 'Outlander' are, ahead of the sixth season returning very soon. Her fans planted 120,000 trees in her honour for her birthday.
