'Y: The Last Man' series has hit a snag, following the departure of Irish actor Barry Keoghan.
The Dublin actor, who has become a household name in Ireland following the success of his movies such as 'Dunkirk' and 'Black '47', has been a much in-demand actor within the last year.
The TV series, which is based on the critically-acclaimed post-apocalyptic comic-book series from Brian K. Vaughan, sees Yorick Brown and his monkey living in a world where they are the only male mammals left living. Due to premiere later this year, showrunner Michael Green ('Blade Runner 2049' and 'Logan') will now be left scrambling to find a replacement for the FX series as soon as possible. Before Keoghan was announced as the lead, the series was already years in development.
Reasons as to why Keoghan exited the project so far into production are still unknown. However, a possible reason could be the fact that Keoghan's star has substantially risen since he was first announced as being the main lead in 'Y: The Last Man' when it was announced back in February 2019.

The next time we'll see Keoghan on our screens will be Marvel's next superhero team-up movie 'Eternals', where he'll be playing the comic-book character Druig. Possibly, his schedules for both projects clashed - especially as a sequel to Marvel's movie is inevitable - and Keoghan wasn't able to commit to a series run with multiple seasons.

Acting like Superhero’s .... THE ETERNALS ??? @kumailn #Eternals #marvel
Hopefully we'll get more concrete information regarding his exit soon, but until then we'll get to see Barry Keoghan star in 'Eternals' opposite the likes of Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, and Kit Harrington when it hits theatres in November.
Before this however, make sure to catch Keoghan in 'Calm With Horses' which hits theatres on March 13th.
