This mid-week movie enlists a talented cast, including Maggie Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Holly Hunter and Oscar Isaac, in a story that is loosely based on events that led to the passing of the Parent Trigger law in 2010. Frustrated by the unsatisfactory level of education her daughter is receiving, Jamie (Gyllenhaal) enlists the help of teacher and fellow mother Nona (Davis) to transform their children's failing inner city school and put in a better system for all. However, they are confronted by a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy as well as corruption from the teachers' union president and the school's principal.
