After years of planning and preparation, it's finally here. Ireland kick off their campaign to win a World Cup on home soil. When Amhrán na Bhfiann rings out around the UCD bowl it will be an incredible moment for Irish Rugby, Women's Rugby and women's sport in general. Ireland build up to this game will have been thrown somewhat by the late injury withdrawl of captain, Niamh Briggs. However, great effort has been made in recent years to increase the depth of the squad and the captain's armband will be ably filled by Connacht's Claire Molloy. Ireland's pool, which also contains France and Japan, is extremely competitive so every game will be crucial. Ireland are ranked one place above Australia in the World Rankings, so let's so hope they, and the home crowd, can make the advantage count.
