In this programme, newsreader Mark Austin and his daughter Maddy explore the devastating effects of eating disorders. Maddy was diagnosed with anorexia, which she suffered with for three years, at 17. She weighed just 5 ½ stone at her lowest. Mark opens up about how his relationship with his daughter suffered after her diagnosis as he blamed himself and felt he had 'failed' her as a father. A year-long recovery after seeking treatment, Maddy is now a healthy weight and she and Mark discuss the availability of suitable care (or lack thereof) for children with eating disorders. They discuss the subject matter with patients, their families and Prince William.
