Christmas is the time of year when friends and family gather round the television to exchange the traditional greeting, 'don't bother, there's nothing on.' This Christmas, however, a Bafta-winning comedienne makes a welcome return to the small screen with this festive special - her first since Victoria Wood with All the Trimmings in 2000 - that promises to cram an entire night's Christmas viewing into just 60 minutes. Highlights to watch out for include the Midlife Olympics 2009, popular costume drama Lark Pies to Cranchesterford and the adventures of soap star Bo Beaumont, played by Victoria's long-time collaborator Julie Walters. You can also expect personal injury commercials and a dance number bringing together the killer combo of midriff bulge and Busby Berkele. Others joining in the fun are Delia Smith, Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Reece 'League of Gentlemen' Shearsmith and Anton Du Beke. There's allegedly a 'groovy Christmas' edition of QI on at 10.00pm, with the likes of David Tennant, Bill Bailey and Lee Mack joining host Stephen Fry and regular panellist Alan Davies. Then, inexplicably, Ed Byrne hosts Live at the Apollo at 10.30pm.
