This film, directed by Angelina Jolie and co-written by the Coen brothers, tells a true story which will lift your spirits. Starring Jack O’Connell and Domhnall Gleeson, it recounts the life of US Olympian and athlete Louis "Louie" Zamperini, who worked as a bombardier during World War II and was taken as POW by the Japanese after his plane crashed and he was left stranded in the ocean. The film can be a tough watch at times, but in the end, it is ultimately about hope above despair and inner strength above adversity. Keep an eye out for Miyavi whose performance as Mutsuhiro "The Bird" Watanabe is truly haunting.
