Gordon Buchanan examines indigenous people who live alongside some of the world’s most dangerous animals. A new series commences tonight with an underwater theme as Gordon joins a tribal family on the Pacific-based, remote Owarigi island where the men freedive to catch fish and encounter dangerous sharks almost every day, or even at night. They teach Gordon how to freedive and how to shoot a spear gun. He learns that fish and sharks are in worrying decline here due to commercial fishing and the shark-finning trade, but the island’s chiefs mean to protect part of their reefs to preserve fish and sharks.
